SEGA anunció en la Anime Expo 2026 un nuevo cortometraje animado de Sonic que se estrenará próximamente llamado Sonic the Hedgehog: Memories and Beyond.
El cortometraje se estrenará a finales de 2026 como parte del 35º aniversario de Sonic. El nuevo plan malvado del Dr. Eggman consiste en convertir a Metal Sonic en la máquina de combate definitiva robando los datos vitales de Sonic y aprovechando el poder de las Esmeraldas del Caos. Sonic y sus amigos se dan cuenta de que, para derrotar a Metal Sonic, deben confiar en la amistad que han forjado a lo largo de sus aventuras.
El nuevo cortometraje animado se anunció en el panel “Sonic the Hedgehog Animated Shorts: A Frame-by-Frame Retrospective” de la Anime Expo, que celebró los 35 años de Sonic the Hedgehog.
Moderado por Aaron Webber, el panel contó con miembros del equipo de arte y animación de Sonic, entre ellos Takashi Iizuka, Austin Keys y Jasmin Hernández, así como con los invitados especiales Tyson Hesse, Evan Stanley y Alan Wan, quienes hablaron sobre sus procesos creativos antes de anunciar el nuevo cortometraje.
